Recap What a great trip, every year it gets better and better and this year was the best yet. Our team flew out Friday morning, bumpin music in a good friend's Mazda3 all the way to the airport. Air travel was smooth, short layover then we were in California. The wait time to get our rental Prius was longer than our first layover. Blasted out of the airport in a Sim of an automobile, 2024 Toyota Prius! At the end of the day it was the right choice, averaged 66 mpg ripping around in Los Angeles traffic. We stayed at the host hotel along with 100 other Rotary Enthusiast. The parking lot was a car show every night, we all thoroughly enjoyed that. The weather was cooler than expected and I did not pack a thick enough jacket for the parking lot party at night. Packing the right type of clothes is not my super power, though talking about cars for hours might be.

Day of the Show

Saturday morning when we arrived at Irwindale Speedway my excitement was through the roof. Showed up 15 mins early, got to park right behind the MazdaTrix rig and started walking into the sea of Mazdas. Immediately got distracted by Kyle Mohans RX8 Drift monster. What a machine, turbo 3 rotor with Nitrous injection and an insane roll cage with Halo seats. The radiator was from a large diesel truck to keep that fire breathing monster cool. It was mounted in the back of the car with the roof cut downward to make a duct to it. Wild, insane, I aspire. We made a b-line to the main stage to get our Sevenstock Merch and see how the cars were organized. Got distracted 15 times on the way so it took a while. Bought a new hat and got the camera out.

What a group of cars and people, you could feel the excitement and happiness in the air. Everyone there loved their cars and loved this event. We're all insane, everybody knows we're all nuts because this little engine shouldn't be this much fun to play with. It was cool to see MAZDA USA there supporting the event. Not only did they bring out one of every 2024 model Mazda but they also brought the 767B, RX7 FC GTU, RX7 FB GTU, RX8 HP,  RX7 FD Spirit R, S3 Cosmo, and a S1 Cosmo on a trailer being pulled by the Mazda CX90. Mazda USA was giving out a Super cool poster that was personally signed by an artist that wrote your name in Japanese calligraphy. Amazing!

The best part is they fired up the 767B twice that day! When that car revved it sent shivers through your whole body and the ground vibrated where you stood. Super snapping quick revving NA 4 rotor, that's the only car that matters. Right after they shut down the 767B, a RX8 Funny Car fired up and hit the 2 step…. that's the reason why rotary’s always win 2 step competitions. I felt like I got punched in the chest everytime that engine backfired.

Later on I met a new friend at the Mazdatrix tent. I found out there was a guy that worked at Mazdatrix currently and grew up in Mcpherson kansas. We chatted on the phone a few weeks before the event. Though it was the best, he introduced me personally to everyone at MazdaTrix and Everyone at Renewable INC including Kyle Mohan, the Pro Difter. It's such a great feeling when you meet someone for the first time in person even though you've watched hours of their youtube channel but they don't know that, and the interaction is genuine and real just like you. Similarly I met Erich MR.Rad for the first time in person, also an amazing dude and we could just talk about cars even if it's a little awkward at times.

The things you see at Sevenstock are some of the most polished well loved Mazda builds in the USA. Some are well thought out 100k builds, others are original cars still in great condition. Though everything is modified somehow because that part of the culture. We walked all day and were probably one of the last 50 spectators to leave. We were saturated with rotaries, the day went by so fast and we didn't want it to end. After back at the hotel, we hung around the parking lot most of the night with some good friends. Their whole crew drove their rotarys from Albuque New Mexico to Los Angeles for this show. Shout out to Rotor Rehab and Paul the true MVP.

Hiking Adventure

The next day we drove the Prius Sim up into the mountains to get away from the loud city. Found a trail to Hike and found a waterfall at the end of the trail. The nature hike was much needed to process the amazing Sevenstock event we just experienced. We treated ourselves to some amazing Restaurants all weekend, experiencing the variety in the huge city.

Once the rental was returned on monday, hopped into another plane and landed in Kansas 6hrs later. Super quick trip and working on extending next year to even bringing my own car to the show. Wherever Sevenstock will be hosted, I will be there.
